Birthday List

1) Michael Kors Ring- I have had my eye on this ring since Christmas. Michael Kors is known for their tortoise watches and accessories and I think it is beautifully combined with the double ring. I love how if depended on which strand is facing up the ring can either show more tortoise or sparkle. Honestly I would were this ring all day, every day, for every occasion I can think of.

2) Ann Taylor Liza d'Orsay Patent flats- If there is one thing I had to pick that I could not live without it would be a pair of killer nude ballet flats. They go with everything from casual to evening wear. I have been looking for a new pair since my DSW ones are so worn out. After finding these Ann Taylor ones my search is over. I love the d'Orsay detail because it add a little depth to the shoe and since I have a wide foot they are a little more forgiving. The gold accent on the heel adds the perfect amount of interest and surprise to the shoe.

3) Speck MacBook Pro Case- I have this same exact case now. It has held up wonderfully over the past 3 years. A piece of the corner broke off recently so I just need to replace it so it does keep falling off. Speck cases are the best and the plum is such as rich deep color.

4) Jack Rogers Navajo Valley- I have never owned a pair of Jacks before and didn't really know about them until I was in college. Over the past few months, I have fell in love with the look of cork accents. This pair of Jacks fits the bill and the gold ribbons just adds to the look.

So there you have it, my top birthday list picks! Now only a few more weeks till my birthday!

London

The first two days of my study abroad experience were spent in London, England. I had already been to this wonderful city when I was a freshman in high school but it was nice to be back on my own! We arrived to our hotel around 10 am and when we got to there the rooms were not ready so we couldn't even freshen up.

Emily and I walked around London along the river and had lunch at a cute Greek place. After lunch we walked across the Tower Bridge and back to the hotel. After a shower and nap, we meet a few of the other students. For dinner we ate at a restaurant along the Thames, since it was beautiful outside. We also went on the Eye.

The following day we went on a 4 hour bus tour of the city. Emily and I were able to snag the very first row of seats on the second floor of the bus, which was awesome because we had a huge window in front of us and on the side. Well a bus tour doesn't sound ideal, it was a great way to see as much of the city as possible with the short amount of time that we had. We also had time to get out of the bus and explore on our own for a little bit. That night a group went to a pub by our hotel and chowed down on fish and chips and a pint!

Looking at a Blank Page

It has taken me about 6 months to write this post. I knew blogging was going to be hard with the people around me then jetsetting off to Europe. I have about 5 blogs that I follow religiously as in the first thing I do when I wake up is check for the newest post. Almost each one talks about blogs they used to have, how they have taken breaks, and the time to find their groove. Now with me being one of the most impatient people in the world this sense of time is lost on me. So here's to finding time and a place.

Lazy days

So the past few days, I have had the case of lazy summer days. The weather is still not stellar either being super cloudy or 107 degrees.

A few things to note are:

My family and I went to see A Midsummer's Night with The Monkees, which was wonderful!!!!!! We are huge Monkees fans and it was awesome to see them live.

Yesterday, two friends from school came to visit. We went to the beach, originally started out as cloudy and cold, which turned out to be beautiful!!!!!!. In turn I have the worst sunburn of my life and can not move/stay in one spot for too long or I am in so much pain.

Yesterday also marked one month till I leave for Florence, I should probably start packing!

In other news, I am glued to the news waiting to hear more about the royal baby!!

Cheers and Happy Monday!

On the Grill

One of the biggest staples of summer is barbecues. Now while I am all for the classic cheeseburger it is nice to mix it up every once and a while. So here is my twist on a cheeseburger: taziski.

Taziski is a Greek dip that is delightful for the summer because it is so light and fresh.

Recipe:
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced finely
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 cup greek yogurt, strained
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cucumbers, peeled, seeded and diced
  • 2 tsp. chopped mint
  • 1 tsp. chopped fresh dill

Preparation:

Combine olive oil, vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Using a whisk, blend the yogurt with the sour cream. Add the olive oil mixture to the yogurt mixture and mix well. Finally, add the cucumber and chopped fresh dill. Chill for at least two hours before serving. Add the dill for garnish.

For the Burger: Grill the burger to however you like it. Melt feta cheese on the burger. Top it off with tomato, avocado, and taziski. Enjoy
